For over a century and a half, All Saints Catholic Church has continuously remained a prominent landmark in Hayward. It is framed by three busy streets, and the architecture of the church continues to awe passer-by. Even more eye catching is the beauty of its interior design. The altar and the stained glass windows reflect the talents of those who created them, and inspire reverence. All Saints is a lasting tribute to the Portuguese and Spanish immigrants who established the parish. More significant than the structure that has been loved by thousands of worshippers through the years is the Catholic community that the parish has nurtured. The history of All Saints parallels the development of Hayward as a city. All Saints parish has provided early Catholic education to children from Hayward and surrounding communities. Many pillars of the community look back to All Saints Catholic School as their alma mater. The parish has transitioned over the years, and is now very diverse. It welcomed and has become home to worshippers from all over the world. With this diversity, All Saints has been enriched by the values and special ways of worship unique for each culture. The parish has offered opportunities for fellowship, working and worshipping together. All these happened and continue to develop because of the vision and hard work of its dedicated clergy, parish staff and lay volunteers through the years.
The global pandemic that has been raging since early 2020 continues to challenge All Saints Church. The faith and resilience of its parishioners has been amazing. Patiently, many have volunteered and sacrificed their time and treasure to sustain worship activities outdoors, indoors with limitations, and via live stream. The sacrifices of many continue to provide for the spiritual needs of parishioners in this most difficult time. Indeed, All Saints Catholic Church remains strong, active in fulfilling its mission of
making Jesus known in Hayward and beyond.
We continue to say Yes to God.
