THE MISSION STATEMENT AND ACTIVITIES OF THE CHAMORRO GROUP – CONSISTING OF THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS:

1. Santa Marian Kamelin Organization of Northern California (aka SMKO).
2. St. Francis of Assisi Organization of Northern California (aka SFA).
3. Bay Area Women’s Social Club (aka BAWSC).

These organizations continue the Catholic and cultural traditions of the island of Guam. They have devotions to the Blessed Mother (SMKO), St. Francis of Assisi (SFA) and St. Joseph (BAWSC). These devotions are often conducted in the native language and the organizations encourage the youth to participate so they may learn their ancestral traditions and devotions. These organizations have their annual novenas to their respective patron saints and celebrate their feast days annually. They promote unity and cultural interest among the Chamorro community in the Bay Area and at large and support and participate in each other’s devotions and fiestas. In times of need and bereavement they are there for the family of the deceased providing consolation, prayer and food. These organizations also offer bereavement benefits to their members and families.
ACTIVITIES – SANTA MARIAN KAMELIN(SMKO):

• Hold quarterly meetings at All Saints Church (9/29/12, 11/3/12 and 2/16/13 Senior Center 2-6 pm).
• An annual fundraiser in March to offset expenses for Fiesta in December.
• Annual crowning of the Blessed Mother in May held in Yuba City, CA.
• Annual nine day Novena in November (November 30 through December 8) All Saints Chapel each evening from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. (11/30/12 to 12/8/12)
• Annual celebration/fiesta of Our Blessed Mother in December 8^th or Saturday closest to the 8^th at All Saint Church. Require Gym evening of Friday (12/7/12) to decorate and setup for next day and all day Saturday until midnight (12/8/12).
• Provide members’ families with moral support and Bereavement Benefit.

• Participate in All Saints events as needed.
• Participate in All Saints “Gathering Commission”.

ACTIVITIES – ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI (SFA):

• Hold quarterly meetings at All Saints Church (10/20/12 – Senior Center from 1-5 pm).
• Annual Casino Trip for members and friends and family.
• Annual Novena at All Saints Chapel from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm (9/28/12 to 10/6/12)
• Annual celebration/fiesta the feast of St. Francis Assisi in October (10/6/12 – Gym from 8 am to Midnight). Require gym for setup on Friday evening (10/5/12)
• Annual Family Picnic in the summertime.
• Provide members’ families with moral support and Bereavement Benefit.
• Participate in All Saints events as needed.
• Participate in All Saints “Gathering Commission”.
